We are launching the « Yonshi Nyù Hope 2024-2025 » Campaign, an annual initiative aimed at transforming learning conditions for children in Cameroon. Our mission is to ensure that every student has dignified conditions to study, while encouraging academic excellence and supporting the most deserving.
Context:
- *Bametim: Located in the mountainous region of Western Cameroon, near *Mbouda, Bametim is a small village where school infrastructure is particularly precarious. The community faces significant educational challenges, with schools lacking basic materials and equipment. Despite their determination and desire to learn, students in Bametim study under often inadequate conditions.
- Kungi-Nkambé: This village is situated in the Donga Mantung region, in the North-West of Cameroon. Nkambé and its surroundings are severely impacted by the socio-political crisis affecting the North-West and South-West regions. This crisis has created major difficulties for families and educational institutions, limiting access to necessary resources for quality education. The children of Nkambé suffer from insecurity and a lack of educational materials, which directly impacts their learning.
Our Objectives for This Year Are:
- École de Bametim: With a budget of 600,000 CFA (approximately 1,100 USD), we aim to improve school infrastructure by providing:
- 50 desks and benches for students,
- 20 small chairs for children,
- 5 round tables for the kindergarten,
- 5 desks with drawers and 5 chairs for teachers.
- École de Kungi, Nkambé: We also need 600,000 CFA (approximately 1,100 USD) for the purchase and distribution of essential educational materials, including:
- Notebooks,
- Pens,
- Textbooks,
- Other supplies necessary for students and teachers.
At Lycée de Bametim, We Will Implement:
- Academic Excellence Awards: Each year, we will award the most deserving students at Lycée de Bametim with a prize in recognition of their academic excellence, according to criteria defined in collaboration with the school.
- André Nodem Scholarships: We will grant scholarships covering the full tuition fees for:
- The top 10 students in the entrance exam to 6th grade (7,500 CFA each, approximately 13 USD),
- Students from 6th grade to the final year who maintain an average of 14/20 throughout the school year.
Total Amount for This Year’s Operations: 1,200,000 CFA (approximately 2,200 USD).
